Nr. 04 - ALIEN Architecture - Live online roundtable discussion in English

The mission of Trust your Architect! is to organize conversations between professionals as guidance to students about their future career endeavors. “ALIEN Architecture” will be our finale for the Spring 2021 season, where we have been investigating the architect’s role in the next 20 years with three past events: “Pop and Architects,” “Data and Architects,” and “Societal Dystopia and Architects.”

Our final episode will unfold the future of outer space exploration and architecture: The year is 2041. What milestones has the exploration in outer space reached, and how has it impacted our built environment? How do the technologies and structures that follow affect the emerging architecture on Earth and beyond? In 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to journey into outer space, achieving a significant milestone in the Space Race. Meanwhile, the neofuturistic, avant-garde architectural group Archigram designed the mobile Living Pod capsule. Can this parallel in form be simply fortunate, or does it mean that outer space exploration impacts architectural design? What kind of opportunities does this hold for the profession’s future? With space travel, we were able to view the transformations on Earth from a farther perspective, as it held a mirror to our actions. At the same time, Environmentalism became an undercurrent in architecture and planning. Is there a correlation between the two phenomenons, or is it a mere coincidence? In the season finale of Trust your Architect!’s roundtable discussions on the future of the architecture profession, we will be exploring these questions with our featured guests.

Évadzáró epizódunk az építészetet az űrkutatás adta lehetőségek szemszögéből vizsgálja: 2041-ben járunk. Milyen mérföldkövekhez ért el az űrkutatás, milyen hatással van az épített környezetünkre? Az általa létrejövő technológiák és struktúrák hogyan befolyásolják a Földi, az űrbeli és más bolygókon létrejövő építészetet? 1961-ben Yuri Gagarin elsőként sikeresen hazatért az űrutazásról. Eközben az Archigram, a neofuturisztikus avant-garde építészeti mozgalom egyik képviselője, megtervezte a Living Pod kapszulalakást. Véletlen-e ez a formai párhuzam? Ez alapján is kijelenthető, hogy az űrkutatás hatással van az építészeti formavilágra. Milyen lehetőségeket rejt ez a jövő építészetére? Az űrutazással egy távolabbi perspektívából tudtuk szemlélni a Föld változásait, ezáltal egy tükröt állítottunk magunk elé. Pár év elteltével a környezettudatos szemléletmód is teret nyert a köztudatban. Van-e összefüggés a két jelenség között vagy ez csak egy véletlen egybeesés? A Trust your Architect! évadzáró kerekasztal-beszélgetésén ezekre a kérdésekre keressük a választ meghívott előadóinkkal.

A Trust your Architect! célja, hogy olyan kerekasztal-beszélgetéseket szervezzen már tapasztalt szakmabeliek között, amelyek irányt tudnak mutatni a hallgatók számára jövőbeli kihívásaikról és lehetőségeikről. Az “ALIEN Architecture” lesz az évadzáró beszélgetésünk a 2021-es tavaszi évadban, ahol eddig az építész szerepét vizsgáltuk az elkövetkezendő 20 év távlatában három korábbi eseménnyel: “Pop és Építészek”, “Adatok és Építészek” és “Társadalmi disztópia és Építészek”.
